UVM Professor Kevin McKenna will describe the “Slavophile” and “Westernizer” movements, characteristic of the major themes in the literary works of the Russian writers in the second half of the 19th century. How about today? How do Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and Vladimir Putin fit into all of this in the 21st century? On display for this lecture will be paintings of Russian writers by Nitya Brighenti.
