But did you know that he wrote for Hollywood, designed sets for Broadway, owned restaurants in South America and Europe, and painted everything from magazine covers to frescos? Through dramatic reading, lecture, and visuals, we’ll explore Bemelmans, man and myth.

    Film Screening: The Face of Winter

    “The Face of Winter,” a film by Warren Miller Entertainment that features world-class skiers and snowboarders on slopes on various continents, will be screened at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon.

    The screening, in Room 100 of the Academic and Student Activity Center, is free for the public. The 69th installment of “The Face of Winter” was released in 2018.

    Miller, who lived in Washington state and died in 2018, was a legendary skiing filmmaker whose first skiing film was released in 1950. Longtime Sugarbush Resort ski instructor and chief recreational officer John Egan, a U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame inductee, appeared in more than a dozen of Miller’s films.

    There will be food, a cash bar, birthday cake, and more. Meet your friends, community members, and staff of The Bridge during the celebration. While enjoying the delicious food and good cheer, leave a note for The Bridge on Down Home’s famous house typewriter. The Bridge will publish your notes along with photos of the event in the following issue!

    Sawyer Valentini relocates from Boston to Pennsylvania to escape from the man who’s been stalking her for the last two years. While consulting with a therapist, Valentini unwittingly signs in for a voluntary 24-hour commitment to the Highland Creek Behavioral Center. Her stay at the facility soon gets extended when doctors and nurses begin to question her sanity. Sawyer now believes that one of the staffers is her stalker — and she’ll do whatever it takes to stay alive and fight her way out.
