    For an on-the-ground look at our MFA in Creative Writing program, please be our guest for visiting day during the Spring residency, on Sunday, January 6th. This is an opportunity to meet MFA Director Elena Georgiou, sit in on a workshop or two, and take a campus tour. Lunch is provided gratis, and friends and family are always welcome to tag along.

    This is our MFA open house event — not to be missed if you want to gain a sense of our community of writers from personal experience, and it happens only twice yearly! RSVP is required.

    Hannah Tinti is the author of the bestselling novel The Good Thief, which won The Center for Fiction’s first novel prize, and the story collection Animal Crackers, a runner-up for the PEN/Hemingway Award.

    Her new novel, The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley, is a national bestseller and has been optioned for television. She teaches creative writing at New York University’s MFA program and co-founded the Sirenland Writers Conference. Tinti is also the co-founder and executive editor of One Story magazine, which won the AWP Small Press Publisher Award, CLMP’s Firecracker Award, and the PEN/Magid Award for Excellence in Editing.

    Chana Porter’s plays and performance pieces have been developed or produced at Playwrights Horizons, The Catastrophic Theatre, La MaMa, 3LD, Rattlestick Playwright’s Theatre, Cherry Lane, The Invisible Dog, Movement Research, PS122, and The White Bear in London. She is a MacDowell Fellow, a New Georges Audrey Resident, and 2019 nominee for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize.

    She is currently writer-in-residence at The Catastrophic Theatre in Houston, with three world premieres between 2017-2020. Chana Porter is the co-founder of the Octavia Project, a free summer writing and STEM program for Brooklyn teenage girls and nonbinary youth, now in its fifth year. Her play LEAP AND THE NET WILL APPEAR will be produced in NYC by New Georges in June 2019 at 3LD, directed by Tara Ahmadinejad. Her debut novella, THE SEEP, is forthcoming from Soho Press in fall 2019.
