Young Thurgood Marshall faces one of his greatest challenges while working as a lawyer for the NAACP. Marshall travels to conservative Connecticut when wealthy socialite Eleanor Strubing accuses black chauffeur Joseph Spell of sexual assault and attempted murder. He soon teams up with Sam Friedman, a local Jewish lawyer who’s never handled a criminal case. Together, the two men build a defense while contending with racist and anti-Semitic views from those who deem Spell to be guilty.

    January 19, 2019 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
    Tickets available soon.
Join Craftsbury-based filmmakers Kathy Swanson and Vince O’Connell for a special screening of their independent feature film “Farmer of the Year.” A film that delicately blends the comedy and drama of life, the story follows Hap Anderson, (Barry Corbin) a widowed 83-year-old Minnesota farmer, who sells his family farm and finds himself adrift and staring a short future in the face. Driven by the possibility of showing up with an old flame and impressing his old army buddies, he sets out to attend his 65th WWII reunion in California with his directionless and unreasonably self-confident granddaughter, Ashley (Mackinlee Waddell). Each with their own issues and agendas, they head west in a dilapidated Winnebago. As the journey progresses so does their relationship and they begin to appreciate each other while discovering that being young and being old aren’t all that different.

Waterbury Winterfest is a 10-day festival featuring indoor and outdoor venues, traditional and not-so-traditional events. There’s snowshoeing, skating, and skiing, as you might expect. We also offer warm venues. Think beer trivia at one of Waterbury’s local pubs, a game show at the American Legion, a felting workshop at the library or let the kids heat up outside at the Youth Snow Soccer game.

A father and daughter live a perfect but mysterious existence in Forest Park, a beautiful nature reserve near Portland, Oregon, rarely making contact with the world.
