On Saturday, November 11, The Collection in Waitsfield, VT will join hundreds of locally owned stores across the country to celebrate the eighth national Neighborhood Toy Store Day, an annual celebration in which independent toy shops kick off the holiday season with special events to introduce consumers to the benefits of shopping local. The Collection will offer fun, child-friendly activities such as Crazy Aaron’s Putty mixing, model car building, award-winning game play, and crafting.

Montpelier Memory Cafe ,( www.montpeliermemorycafe.net ) meets the second Saturday of each month, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM, at Montpelier Senior Activity Center, 58 Barre Street in Montpelier. The Cafe is a social gathering where people in early to mid-stage memory loss disorders, and their care partners, can come together to connect and support one another in a relaxed, non-judgmental atmosphere. Participants enjoy social time and food, as well as activities and exercise. These may include art, music, dance and movement. People living with memory loss and their care partners are all invited to attend. Admission is free. (Please note that the Memory Cafe is not a drop-off or adult day care center. Come learn all about black walnuts! We will process the hull for inks and dyes and the nut meat for food. We will also explore other local plants to make pigments and dyes. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and something light in color to dye.
