    On Saturday, November 11, The Collection in Waitsfield, VT  will join hundreds of locally owned stores across the country to celebrate the eighth national Neighborhood Toy Store Day, an annual celebration in which independent toy shops kick off the holiday season with special events to introduce consumers to the benefits of shopping local.  The Collection will offer fun, child-friendly activities such as Crazy Aaron’s Putty mixing, model car building, award-winning game play, and crafting.

    Montpelier Memory Cafe ,( www.montpeliermemorycafe.net ) meets the second Saturday of each month, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM, at Montpelier Senior Activity Center, 58 Barre Street in Montpelier. The Cafe is a social gathering where people in early to mid-stage memory loss disorders, and their care partners, can come together to connect and support one another in a  relaxed, non-judgmental atmosphere. Participants enjoy social time and food, as well as activities and exercise. These may include art, music, dance and movement. People living with memory loss and their care partners are all invited to attend. Admission is free. (Please note that the Memory Cafe is not a drop-off or adult day care center.     The Bereavement/Grief Support Group is open to anyone who hasexperienced the death of a loved one. There is no fee.

    The group focuses on learning together about coping with grief, with the intention of receiving and offering support. The group is informal and includes sharing of personal grief experiences. Each session is accompanied by relevant handouts, books and videos that can be borrowed for review at home.

    Polar explorer Ben Saunders set out to accomplish what no other human has ever done: walk to the South Pole and back. Ben and one companion faced near constant white-out conditions as they hauled sledges that weighed over 400 lbs. each. This 17-minute TED Talk will be followed by a discussion.
