The Royal Frog Ballet: Surrealist Cabaret

The Royal Frog Ballet returns to Feast and Field Market this fall with their Surrealist Cabaret, a glittering, contemplative, and hilarious performance set in the hills and dells of Barnard at sunset. The outdoor performance and installation event walks the audience through farm landscape where they encounter a surreal collection of short stories, dance, installation pieces, and roving characters that explore and celebrate themes of season, place, and what it means to be human in these times. It is a folky, comedic, and deeply thought-provoking evening for all ages.

Outdoor performances of The Surrealist Cabaret will take place at Feast and Field Market in Barnard, VT, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday September 29th, 30th, and October 1st. The tour continues to Park Hill Orchard in Easthampton, MA Friday through Sunday on October 13, 14, 15, and October 20, 21, 22. All performances begin promptly at 5:00 pm. Please arrive early.

Ballet Vermont: Bees & Friends

1608 Craftsbury Rd, Greensboro, VT 05841, USA
1608 Craftsbury Rd, Greensboro, VT 05841, USA

The creator of Vermont’s innovative Farm to Ballet Project announced that his new ballet company, Ballet Vermont, will present Bees & Friends this fall. The production debuts October 1, 2 p.m. at Highland Lodge in Greensboro, Vermont. A second performance on October 14, 3 p.m. will take place at Shelburne’s Bread and Butter Farm as part of a fall festival. This show will also feature the popular musician and early childhood educator Chris Dorman, affectionately known as “Mister Chris.”

Ballet Vermont includes a number of the ballet dancers that appeared in Farm to Ballet as well as some newcomers. The ensemble includes six soloist and eleven members of the corps. The mission of the company is to present high quality ballet which celebrates Vermont. Pregger said he hopes to create a path for professional ballet dancers, musicians, and composers in Vermont to collaborate and produce original dance pieces.

The company’s inaugural piece, Bees & Friends, is a delightful menagerie of bees, bugs and birds dancing to Vivaldi’s the Four Seasons, which will be performed live. The 45-minute ballet explores topics of pollination, metamorphoses, integrated pest management and bio-luminescence.

Tickets can be purchased for twenty dollars, or a beehive four-pack of tickets is available at a discounted rate of $65. Performances are outdoors and food is available for purchase at both venues. To purchase tickets and learn more about the artists of Ballet Vermont, visit www.balletvermont.org.

Sense & Sensibility Jane Austen’s classic novel comes to life onstage in an exuberant, surprising, hilarious and deeply affecting adaptation by Kate Hamill.
