Scrag does Romantic music! Anchored by the soaring and passionate Mendelssohn Piano Trio no. 1, this program explores music from the 19th century Romantic era and also neo-romanticism as it was revived in the 20th century. Two pieces by Erich Korngold demonstrate his versatility as both a film and theater composer (the Suite for violin and piano was originally written for a production of Much Ado About Nothing) and also writing art song. This is music to warm your heart in a cold winter!
Celebrating forty years together, the Thetford Chamber Singers present powerful literary texts with complex choral arrangements, including the work of Wendell Berry, Emily Dickinson, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and others. Location: Farmers Night Series at the House Chamber, Vermont State House. This First Wednesdays program is sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council.
