A half-hour program of music remembering the victims of the 9/11 tragedy will be played on the historic bells of Montpelier’s Trinity United Methodist Church on Monday, September 11, 2017, beginning at 9:59 a.m., when the south tower fell in 2001. Michael Loris will play the unrestored 1908 McShane chime of ten bells (the only completely original tower bell instrument in Vermont), and the matching 1872 bass bell (or bourdon), one of the heaviest bells in the Green Mountain State (2,552 lb.).
Rehearsals begin for Onion River Chorus Fall 2017 term on Monday Sept. 11. The program will celebrate Christmas with 16th, 17th, and 18th century music from Mexico and Bolivia under the direction of Richard Riley. Rehearsals held at Christ Episcopal Church 64 State St. Montpelier, upstairs in the Taplin Auditorium. Please arrive at 6:45 to sign in and get music.
