    Capital City Concerts opens its 2017-2018 season of world-class chamber music on Friday, September 29 at 7:30PM at the Unitarian Church of Montpelier, and Sunday, October 1 at 3PM at the Paramount Theater in Rutland in a program called Magic, Modes & Minerals. The performers are some of Vermont’s finest musicians including violinist Mary Rowell, violist Stefanie Taylor, cellist Emily Taubl, harpistRebecca Kauffman, and flutist Karen Kevra. They will play works of Debussy, Carlos Salzedo, and Albert Roussel.

    The historic bells of Montpelier’s Trinity United Methodist Church
    will be played on three “leaf peeper” weekends this fall.  Half-hour
    recitals will begin at 3:58 p.m. on Sat. Sept. 23 and Sun. the 24th;
    Sat. Sept. 30 and Sun. Oct. 1; and Sat. Oct. 7 and Sun. the 8th.
    Programs will be available at the front door of the church.
     

    Michael Loris will play the unrestored 1908 McShane chime
    of ten bells (the only completely original tower bell instrument
    in 
    Vermont), and the matching 1872 bass bell (or bourdon),
    one of the heaviest bells in the Green Mountain State (2,552 lb.).

    The Burlington Chamber Orchestra will be holding SWEET MUSIC: A Chocolate Tasting to Benefit the Burlington Chamber Orchestra on Wednesday, October 4 from 6-8 pm at Hotel Vermont. The cost will be $35 per person. Music will be provided by members of the Burlington Chamber Orchestra.

    Vendors participating in this Chocolate Party will include: Lake Champlain Chocolate; Amarah’s Chocolate Company; Laughing Moon Chocolate: Evelyne’s on Center; Madeline’s Bakery; Edible Arrangements and Hotel Vermont. Wine will be provided by Shelburne Vineyards.

    Admission is $35 and tickets can be purchased at flynntix.org. Space is limited to 100 people.

    Pianist Jeewon Park returns to the Chandler stage on Saturday, October 7, this time with acclaimed cellist and husband, Edward Arron.  The couple will perform an evening of the complete Beethoven Cello Sonatas.  The program begins at 7:30 and a meet-the-artist reception follows the performance.
