Tenores de Aterúe (Avery Book, Gideon Crevoshay, Carl Linich, and Doug Paisley) came together in 2007 around a mutual fascination with music from the Mediterranean island of Sardinia. Accomplished singers each in their own right, they were entranced by the guttural sounds, overtones, and rhythmic precision of the traditional singing form called cantu a tenore, which has been deemed  by UNESCO a “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity”.

The Tenores are the only ensemble outside of Sardinia that is dedicated to singing cantu a tenore music.

Capital City Concerts presents A Feast of Suites on Sunday, November 20 at 3PM at Montpelier High School Smilie Auditorium. Lou Kosma conducts a professional orchestra n three orchestral suites: Gustav Holst’s Green Brook Suite, Telemann’s Suite in A minor featuring flutist Karen Kevra ,and Schoenberg’s Suite in the Old Style, a distinctly tonal homage to J.S. Bach. The works are evocative of landscape with a strong sense of place, just in time for the annual celebration of Vermont’s fall bounty this Thanksgiving season.
