Staff Shifts Implemented Within The City

MONTPELIER — Even though Financial Director Sandy Gallup and tax collector Beverlee Pembroke Hill have left the building (City Hall), taxes still need to be collected and numbers still need to be crunched.

Therefore, staff changes have been put in place to fill in the gaps. For example, Todd Provencher will be promoted to accounting manager, according to a recent City Manager’s report. Provencher, who formerly handled payroll and human resources, will need someone to do the tasks he has been doing for the city. So a payroll and benefits specialist is scheduled to be hired to fill his shoes.

In addition, the city hired Jamie Granfield to become a part-time office assistant, replacing Loretta Bresette, who also retired.

Granfield now works in City Clerk John Odum’s office area where she greets residents and assists with accounting. Odum will now serve as collector of delinquent accounts, in addition to his job as city clerk.

And, as of July 1, recreation department employees will be moving from the school system to the city. The following people will newly be considered employees of the city: Arne McMullen, Rick LaChapelle, Norma Maurice, Carl Nunn and Sheila Cleary. “We look forward to working with them as we consider establishing a new Community Services Department which could include the Parks, Recreation, Senior Center and Cemetery Departments,” Fraser’s report states.

According to a city council agenda for July 15, “As of July 18, the ‘front counter’ of the Montpelier Recreation Department will be located at the Montpelier Senior Activity Center at 58 Barre Street. Residents of Montpelier and surrounding communities are invited to visit 58 Barre Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, to buy pool passes, register for summer camps and ask questions about or sign up for all other recreation programming.”
