MONTPELIER — For those hoping to catch a glimpse of one of Vermont’s most loyal political parade participants – U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont – you are in for a disappointment. It turns out the Democratic presidential candidate is not planning on being in Vermont for Montpelier’s annual July 3rd Independence Day parade, according to his Washington D.C. scheduler, Jacob Gillison by phone June 29. “It looks like he will not be in Vermont,” Gillison said.
Instead, Sanders is sending some people from his campaign to represent him, according to Montpelier Alive! executive director Ashley Witzenberger, who said they will be selling things like tee shirts and buttons at the event.
